Action4Acomb

Local People....Local Priorities

Action4Acomb (A4A) is the name of the Community Led Planning Group which was set up to help the people of the Parish to identify and develop ways to improve the life of the community through the production of an Acomb Community Led Plan and progressing identified actions.

About
Action4Acomb

Anyone living or working within Acomb Parish is part of Action4Acomb. A constituted committee was formed with the guidance of Community Action Northumberland to support the activities and projects identified through the Parish-wide questionnaire findings (2014) that residents completed (56% response rate).

Our Story

Local People.....

This website was developed originally to improve communication within Acomb Parish and to let residents know of the progress with Acomb’s Community Led Plan and the wide-ranging and varied projects determined by residents in the Parish wide Questionnaire responses (2014).

Many residents said that communication within Acomb could be improved. Over time there have been  varied ways to share what is happening in our community. Most recently, Acomblocal Facebook and Acomblocal Website have been developed to further enhance communication.  Both are intended to ensure you are able to be involved and have your say.  Want to advertise an event or your group, then contact the Acomblocal site to arrange this or through this link.

Who We are

A4A...Serving Our Community

Action4Acomb (A4A) is a community-led organisation constituted to help realise the aspirations of people living and working in Acomb, Northumberland. Anyone living and/or working within Acomb Parish is part of A4A. A constituted committee is elected annually to support the activities and projects of A4A.
Who is on the committee? – see below.

A4A was subsequently formed following an Acomb Parish Council public meeting held on 4 April 2012. Below is the link to the pages of the leaflet published after the April 2012 meeting and distributed to all households within Acomb Parish.

Action4Acomb Committee

A small steering group was formed and became involved at an early stage in some of the issues originally raised both at the Acomb Parish Council public meeting in 2012 but also through early engagement and consultation with established groups.

It soon became apparent that there were urgent priorities, as identified by the community, such as developing a Flood Plan. Along with other areas, such as the Approach to the Village (A1067), it was felt there was the ability and desire to take early action.

It was agreed unanimously that A4A would become a constituted community group at a well attended public meeting in October 2013.

Action4Acomb’s constitution is reviewed annually at the AGM held each October.

If you would like to discover more or join the committee, contact us for information or come along as an observer to one of the A4A Committee meetings, by contacting the Committee Secretary.

A questionnaire to all Acomb Parish households was distributed in November 2014 with volunteers collecting from each household to encourage a high rate of return (56%). The analysis of the information is available and the results were shared at the Parish Council Annual Public meeting (3 June 2015) and at several venues throughout the village.

A further questionnaire was distributed to all households in the Parish in October 2021 to review what residents are saying now. This is currently being analysed though a preliminary analysis was shared at A4A’s 2021 AGM.

Acomb's Community led plan

It was agreed unanimously that A4A would become a constituted community group in October 2013 at a public meeting. The Community Led Plan (CLP) was distributed to all households in Acomb Parish (early October 2016). All the documents related to the Community Led Plan can be viewed in the A4A Document Library.

In October 2021 a revised questionnaire was again distributed to all residents of Acomb Parish in order that the CLP could be refreshed and renewed.  The files relating to the questionnaire can be found here:
